The Battery Project

We started cruising in 2014 and replaced the batteries in 2016. In our short cruising life we’d heard enough failed battery stories to know we didn’t want to do the battery dance every few years if we didn’t have to. This post details a conversion from lead acid to lithium and all the considerations required.

Is it time to put lithium ion batteries on your boat? Full disclosure, we have lithium-ion batteries on Karvi and have had since 2016. So, the answer to the Lithium Question for Karvi is yes, and I’m very happy with the choice. But that doesn’t mean the answer for you is yes.
